Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink Lipstick color: Lover

          I received this product free compliments of Influenster for testing purposes.



So i have the color "Lover". Its a really beautiful pinkish plum or mulberry color.

 The first thing i noticed besides the color is the awkwardly shaped applicator.
I mean, i think a pointy tip would have sufficed. I'm not really sure why the hole in the middle is necessary. It just makes it harder to apply in thin layers. But whatever, not that big of a deal.



I applied this lippie to take this picture to show off. I had no intentions of keeping it on. It was a little thick and heavy, but it was definitely matte. The pigmentation was great and it was VERY true to color. But is it REALLY long lasting? THAT'S the million dollar question! Now before i get to this next part, i need everyone to keep in mind this stuff is SUPPOSED to last "up to" 16 hours and its kiss proof/smear proof etc.

I also want to mention that this is 100% my fault and I am in no way shape or form blaming the company for my stupid mistake


I go to try and wash it off. first i used a baby wipe because i mean baby wipes can take ANYTHING off, right? WRONG. The lippie didn't budge. Then i put a little dish soap on the baby wipe, still nothing. Not a smudge, NADA. Now, by this time i've already rubbed my mouth so much the skin is disturbed and red. I'm irritated. I just want this lipstick to come off. So i pull out the big guns....a rough wash towel and some dawn dish soap. I scrubbed so hard my skin was BLEEDING and still, NOT A SMUDGE. So i said forget it and let it be because Lord knows i don't need a trip to the ER over something so silly.
The next morning (about 24 hours after i had put the lipstick on) I exfoliated and it came off INSTANTLY. Now, why in the world hadn't i thought about this before?? I have no real answer to that except possible "mom brain". That's my excuse at least. But hey, you live and you learn.


So if you're out there wondering if this product REALLY works..... yes, yes it does. It almost works a little TOO good if you ask me. All in all, its a great product. Its cheap ($7-$10 depending on the color) and it DEFINITELY lasts. Even though my first experience was rough, i plan to get this lippie in every color when my local Walmart restocks!
